Online Workshop (Level: Basic/ Intermediate)

My online workshop will focus on technique, endurance training, and practice ideas. We will also incorporate our voices and learn some coordination exercises.

Workshop fee: €25
(€20.00 for members of the "Tamburi Mundi Freiburg e.V." association)

The class will be held via ZOOM.
The lessons will be in English.

Frame Drum Online-Intensive (level: intermediate/ advanced)

September 28, 2025, 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.

We'll dedicate a whole day to the frame drum. In seven one-hour lessons (in our opinion), I'll cover various topics with you. Here's an overview:

10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
Unit 1 "Frame Drums and Phrasing" (sound and rhythmic)
Here, I'll share ideas for providing a varied and musical accompaniment.

11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m.
Unit 2 Coordination of Voice and Frame Drum
For me, these two things have belonged together ever since I started playing frame drums.

12:30 – 01:30 p.m.
Unit 3: Shaking Techniques (e.g., tamburello in the "lapstyle" position)
This style of playing was a real eye-opener for me when I began incorporating it into my grooves. It brings a second rhythmic layer into play.

BREAK

03:00–04:00 p.m.
Unit 4: Independence on the Frame Drum
This can be done in combination with "brush playing" or a small setup.
Not an easy task, and it can't be learned overnight...

04:15–05:15 p.m.
Unit 5: Working with a Composition
Here I will introduce you to one of my compositions and work on it together.

05:30–06:30 p.m.
Unit 6: Improvisation
This is probably one of the most exciting topics, but also something that requires intensive practice. Here, I'll share some ideas from my improvisational experiences.

07:00–08:00 p.m.
Unit 7: Open Question Time
Finally, I wanted to give you the opportunity to ask questions about anything related to frame drums. I'll also give you an overview of various elements that you can practice.
