The Misafir Ensemble is more than just musical guests from the land of the Golden Horn! Launched in 2010, the Misafir (German: "Guest") project by percussionist Murat Coşkun is more than just a pleasant and melodious gathering of illustrious guests bringing Turkish music with them. It also provides a platform for encounters with diverse musicians.

They are all masters of their craft, invited to concert tours around the world and to important festivals, and also experienced in Turkish music. They virtuosically present refreshing interpretations of traditional and classical Ottoman music from the 14th to the 18th century, as well as sacred songs from Turkey.

At first, Misafir appears to be a guest from a bygone era, but the audience feels like they are in the present, in the here and now, with the musicians. They experience the music as vividly and intensely as it was played and felt back then, and as unusual as it was probably never heard back then.
